Angela Simmons Wrote A Touching Tribute To Her Son’s Father, Who Died Earlier This Year

Growing Up Hip Hop star, Angela Simmons, has had a difficult year. Earlier this year, her son’s father, Sutton Tennyson, was gunned down in his Atlanta home. Simmons was once engaged to Tennyson but their engagement was called off.

Angela Simmons announced she was engaged to Sutton Tennyson in April of 2016, the news came as a bit of a surprise to many of her fans. She later confirmed what many were already speculating, that she was expecting her first child and happy about growing her family. However, shortly after their son Sutton Jr. was born, the couple announced the end of their relationship. Simmons spoke candidly that she tried to make it work but she wasn’t happy.

“I just got to a place where I felt like I wasn’t happy, and I tried, and I tried, and I tried and I wanted it to work because the last thing I wanted to do was not be together with the person I had my child with,” Simmons admitted in a confessional for the season 4 premiere of WEtv’s Growing Up Hip-Hop. God had another plan for me.”

Although Simmons and Tennyson weren’t together, she was devastated over his death and shared on Instagram that she was “numb”. She thanked him for giving her the greatest gift as she promised to take care of their son.

Now, as the year closes, Simmons took to Instagram to deliver a touching tribute to her son’s father, Sutton Tennyson.

Simmons Reflected On Losing The Father Of Her Son

Angela Simmons took to Instagram to remember Tennyson and reflect on “the most difficult hurdle” that she’s ever had to face.

“As this year comes to a close, I reflect on the most difficult hurdle I’ve ever had to face. And it’s losing my son’s father,” she captioned a post of Tennyson holding his newborn son. “To know that you are with us in spirit is sometimes just not enough. But as the new year comes in I know that I will do my best carrying Sj with your strength and mine. And now being mommy and daddy to our beautiful son . Thank you for my best gift ever. Sj will forever carry your name. Rest now . I got us ♥️💪🏽 2019 we are ready .”

Angela Simmons Thanked Her Son’s Father For The Greatest Gift

In November, authorities “discovered a 37-year-old black male lying deceased, with multiple gunshot wounds, inside an open garage” in Atlanta. The man was later revealed to be Sutton Tennyson, Angela’s ex-fiance and the father of her son, Sutton Tennyson Jr. Upon learning of his death, Simmons took to Instagram to mourn him while thanking him for the greatest gift.

Angela Simmons got hit with a curve ball with the sudden and tragic death of her former fiancé and the father of her son. To get through the days, Angela has credited God and her physical workouts.

Realizing that life is short, Angela Simmons stressed the importance of telling her son that she loves of him. She shared with her followers to tell their children that you love them even if they think they’re not listening. On her Instagram page, Angela often shares photos of herself and her son as he is growing up fast.

Little Sutton Misses His Dad

Angela Simmons’ son is named after his late dad and it’s clear that he misses him. Simmons shared a video of little Sutton watching a video of his dad playing with him in the water. She shared that he watches the video repeatedly.

Angela Simmons’ Brother Jojo Promises To Be In Her Son’s Life

Angela Simmon’s brother, Jojo Simmons, also mourned the loss of Tennyson on Instagram. While he was candid in saying that the two men were not like brothers, he shared that they had good conversations. Jojo also revealed that Tennyson’s last words to him was for him to “hold it down”.  At the time, he had no idea what he meant. Jojo shared that he now knows how he will hold it down for Tennyson. He promised to step up and be a father figure for his nephew, Sutton Jr.
