On Thursday, July 27, a beautiful South Carolina couple’s lives were cut short due to a tragic motorcycle accident. According to The State, Aaron L. Collins, 40, and Sydni McMillan Collins, 46 both died after being transported to Palmetto Health Richland. The couple reportedly died from multiple gunshot wounds to their upper bodies. The bizarre circumstances surrounding their untimely deaths have led to national headlines. The two were riding their motorcycles only 7 miles from home when they were shot.
It has been reported that the shooting occurred around 9:45 p.m. that Thursday evening. The two were shot near Parklane Road, near the Claudia Drive in Columbia, South Carolina. People at a nearby business witnessed the horrific scene before first responders even arrived. According to WLTX, some shared details about the moments after the shooting.
“I called 911, JD looked up at me and said Cal she’s dead and sure enough, she was dead,” says one man who came from a bar next to where the shooting occurred.
When police arrived, they found the wounded couple, along with one other unidentified person who suffered non-life threatening injuries as a result of the shooting. Friends of the couple have also spoken publicly about the couple’s shocking deaths. Traice Brown, a friend of the couple, shared her reaction to the news reports shortly after the shootings. “I saw a live report that a crew was filming here and when you see stuff like that, you don’t expect them to be someone you know,” said Brown.
Due to the mysterious nature of their deaths, the Richland County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the case as a murder. On Saturday, July 29, Sgt. Brittany Jackamonis of the Richland County Sheriff’s Department released a statement about the case.
