We’ve probably all seen episodes of Snapped and other types of disturbing love stores gone terribly wrong. But the difference with Ramon Sosa’s story is that he survived the ordeal and not only did he survive, he also managed to bring down his wife. According to the Daily Mail, Sosa – a renowned boxing coach – has released graphic photos of himself after he staged his own death in an effort to prove his wife, Maria ‘Lulu’ Sosa, was behind the entire plot. Apparently, she’d hired a hit man to kill him, but there was one big problem with the whole situation.
Hired To Kill:
It has been reported that the man who Maria Sosa hired to kill her husband actually turned out to be one of his friends, a young man only referred to as Gustavo. So, he joined forces with local authorities to provide solid proof that his friend was paid $2,000 to murder him. The former gym owner has released gruesome photos of his staged death and he’s explained that he actually coached the young man who was hired. “Unwittingly, she had approached a guy called Gustavo, to see if he could organize the hit, without realizing we were friends. I knew him, because I’d coached him. He’d been in trouble in the past, but had turned his life around.”
Bringing Down A Potential Killer:
Sosa admitted that he thought Gustavo was only joking when he came to him and explained that someone was trying to kill him. “At first, when he called and said he needed to see me, because someone ‘wanted to kill me.” Sosa said, “I thought he was joking.” But he soon learned the situation was anything but a laughing matter. The disheartening truth was his wife was really trying to kill him. After discussing the situation with Gustavo, they both decided something definitely had to be done. “Then we devised a plan, for him to wear a wire and tape her offering money to have me killed, before turning the evidence over to the cops.” He continued, “Gustavo told me she was clearly serious and had held her fingers to her head, in a gun-firing gesture.”
He was also able to establish a motive for his wife’s plot. Apparently, they were facing financial difficulties and she was hoping to cash in on their life insurance policies. ‘It was for financial reasons,’ Mr Sosa said. ‘The business was not as successful as it had been.”
Gustavo reportedly wore a wire and taped his next meeting with Maria. With the discussion they had, he’d obtained more than enough information to turn over to the police. However, they didn’t stop there. Ramon went a step further to create photos of his faked death.

Then, they dropped the bomb on his wife. An undercover police officer met Maria Sosa in a parking lot to confirm the “death” of her husband. When he showed her the staged photos, she reportedly laughed. But things quickly changed when she learned the man was a cop.
After being arrested and charged, Maria Sosa pleaded guilty to solicitation of murder at the District Court in Conroe, Texas. Back in October of 2016, she was sentenced. District Attorney Kelly Blackburn of Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office confirmed, “Maria Sosa (pleaded) guilty to the offense of solicitation of murder and was sentenced to 20 years in prison. Ms. Sosa waived any appeal when she (pleaded) guilty.”
