This is video might leave you cleaning your eyes with Kleenex. This choreographer turned a routine into the perfect proposal.
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA — According to Time, choreographer and dancer Phil Wright has been with girlfriend Ashley Liai for eight years.
As the duo were performing a routine at Los Angeles’ Millennium Dance Complex, it happened.
To the tune of John Legend’s “You & I (Nobody In The World),” the couple executed their routine flawlessly. However, along with the song’s lyrics, Wright made his statement known when Liai turned back to face him.
Taken by total surprise, Liai instantly burst into tears as Wright was in front of her, ring in hand, knee to floor.
When EVERYTHING doesnt matter but the one you love ❤️ @ashleyliai ! Thank you @mytypolife for capturing this special moment! Thank you @jinlee205 for allowing to me to share this important part of my life at @mdcdance! Thank you @nikakljun for the last minute hookup! THANK YOU EVERYBODY FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND LOVE SINCE. This Night was UNREAL! 💍. #philwrightchoreo💯 #onyoutube #millenniumdancecomplex #philwright #ashleyliai #proposal
It seems there were a few more people in on the proposal as well. Via Instagram, Wright gives special props to Jin Lee, who he thanked for allowing him the space to asked Liai’s hand in marriage.
Likewise, he thanked Nika Kljun — another choreographer — of whom he was appreciative for a “last-minute hookup.”
Too, Wright gave thanks to the cameraman behind it all. He goes by the name Typo.
Here it is from another angle.
Wasn’t that just the best!?
Wow. Phil Wright definitely pulled off an epic proposal. Now, the future Mr. and Mrs. Wright continue dancing as they plan what will probably be a wedding just as epic as its proposal.
All in all, we’d love to know your thoughts about this dance proposal. Do you know anyone who asked for a friends hand in marriage via a similar way? Feel free to comment via our Facebook page.
