They say hell hath no fury like a woman scorned and one Manhattan wife is a prime example of what that means. When she learned her husband had knowingly exposed her to the sexually transmitted disease, she was absolutely devastated. However, things didn’t stop there. When the woman learned she, too, had contracted herpes, that only made things worse. But instead of wallowing in despair, she decided to get even. According to New York Daily News, Adrienne Vanterpool has slapped her soon-to-be ex-husband, Lionel Canton, with a hefty lawsuit for hiding his herpes infection.
Hittin’ His Pockets Hard:
It has been reported that Vanterpool is suing Canton for a whopping $4 million for “‘fraudulently and maliciously’ concealed his herpes history.” The 62-year-old woman claims Canton, 63, didn’t reveal he had herpes until 2010 when they were already four years into their marriage. Two months after learning of her husband’s condition, Vanterpool was diagnosed with herpes as well.
Cuttin’ No Corners:
On Thursday, February 15, a complaint was filed in Manhattan Supreme Court detailing Canton’s actions. Needless to say, the complaint cuts no corners explaining the nature of Canton’s deception. According to court papers, he “knew that he had contracted the herpes virus, yet knowingly engaged in marital sexual relations with [Vanterpool].” According to the New York Post, the suit continued with further accusations stating that he “knowingly and fraudulently and maliciously concealed the fact that he had the herpes virus from [his wife] while engaging in sexual relations with [her]… Exposing her to the virus was egregious, outrageous, intentional, reckless, willful and wanton and despicable.” The complaint also stated, “The defendant’s actions as aforesaid were motivated by evil, reckless disregard, callous indifference and disregard of the plaintiff’s health and safety.”
Adrienne Vanterpool is seeking millions for “severe and permanent personal injuries, embarrassment, emotional distress, humiliation and suffering.” She filed for divorce back in 2016 and papers have just been filed to legalize their split.
