Pfeiffer published the n his New York Times bestseller, Yes We (Still) Can: Politics in the Age of Obama, Twitter, and Trump. Not only did he find love while working for the Obama administration, Pfeiffer shared that he went to 4 weddings in 2016 of couples who met while working on the Obama campaign. When Obama learned that Pfeiffer was moving in with Howli, he congratulated him and offered him some relationship advice.
Here’s the advice I give everyone about marriage, Obama said, before launching into three important questions a person should ask him or herself.
First, he asked, ‘Is she someone you find interesting? You will spend more time with this person than anyone else for the rest of your life, and there is nothing more important than always wanting to hear what she has to say about things. Second, he asked: ‘Does she make you laugh?’ And third, he said: ‘I don’t know if you want kids, but if you do, do you think she will be a good mom? Life is long, Obama told him. These are things that really matter over the long term.
When Pheiffer told Obama that Howli meets all those requirements, Obama said, ‘Sounds like she’s the one. Lucky you.’
Obama has been pretty lucky in the relationship department, as he and Michelle, 54, still seem to be very much in love as they have been married for 25 years.
Michelle Obama Discusses Her Romance With Barack Obama:
Michelle and Barack Obama met when Michelle served as his law adviser as Barack was finishing up his Harvard Law degree. The former Flotus had already graduated from Harvard and was working as a lawyer at a corporate firm. She was 25 and he was 28.
Because I went to Harvard and he went to Harvard, and the firm thought, ‘Oh, we’ll hook these two people up,’ Michelle Obama said to ABC News. So, you know, there was a little intrigue, but I must say after about a month, Barack, about a month in, asked me out, and I thought no way. This is completely tacky.
Eventually, Michelle decided to go on a date with Barack. After a few dates, Michelle took Barack home to meet her family and they loved him. While her older brother Craig was still on the fence, eventually Barack won him over as well. He and Michelle had been dating for two years and had talked about marriage but hadn’t made any decisions. Then, one day, Barack Obama proposed.
We were at a restaurant having dinner to celebrate the fact that he had finished the bar, Michelle remembered. And that was supposedly the reason. And then the waiter came over with the dessert and a tray. And there was the ring. And I was completely shocked.
Barack popped the question and Michelle said yes! While it has been over 20 years that they have been married, Barack is still in love with Michelle as she the criteria that he was looking for.
