Whenever Gabrielle Union offers a glimpse of her personal life, she and her husband Dwyane Wade are usually all smiles. But behind closed doors, things haven’t always been so wonderful. Apparently, the couple has faced a number of disheartening moments and the famed actress has suffered more losses than most people probably knew about. With the release of her new book, We’re Going to Need More Wine, right around the corner, Union is revealing what fans can expect when the crack open the new book. For the first time, she’s sharing details about her ongoing battle with infertility.
Her Ongoing Battle:
Although there have been tons of pregnancy rumors over the years, the Being Mary Jane star has revealed the unfortunate truth about it all. For the past three years, she’s faced so many disheartening obstacles with IVF. An excerpt from the book has detailed just how difficult it’s been for the 44-year-old actress. “I have had eight or nine miscarriages. For three years, my body has been a prisoner of trying to get pregnant — I’ve either been about to go into an IVF cycle, in the middle of an IVF cycle, or coming out of an IVF cycle.” She also said that after three years of IVF treatments, her and hubby Dwyane Wade “remain bursting with love and ready to do anything to meet the child we’ve both dreamed of.”
A Newfound Love:
There have been many times where Union has said that she didn’t want children, but she reportedly had a change of heart when she became a stepmother. “For so many women, and not just women in the spotlight, people feel very entitled to know, ‘Do you want kids?’ A lot of people, especially people that have fertility issues, just say ‘no’ because that’s a lot easier than being honest about whatever is actually going on. People mean so well, but they have no idea the harm or frustration it can cause.”
Gabrielle Union’s book We’re Going to Need More Wine is set to be released on October 17, 2017. Best of luck to Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade!
