gtyIsrael Houghton and Adrienne Bailon have had almost two blissful years of marriage and for the Grammy award-winning Gospel singer/producer, things are a lot better the second time around. During a recent interview, Israel opened up about his past and the reason why he chose to marry again after being with his ex-wife Melissa for more than 20 years. Although he’d vowed to never tie the knot again, he’s admitted that there was something special about Adrienne that made him reconsider.

What Makes Adrienne Special:

Israel recently offered an interesting take on relationships explaining the difference between being “celebrated and not tolerated.” He revealed what made Adrienne special is the fact that she’s always accepted him for who he is. With Adrienne, Israel admitted he’s never had to be anything other than himself. In their relationship, he’s felt “celebrated” instead of just being “tolerated.” When he arrives home, he can tell he’s truly welcomed.

“She was the first person that made me feel like you don’t have to hide in order to be accepted,” he told us. “She was the first person that said I’ll accept everything because I like you, I love you, all of that. It’s the first relationship I’ve ever been in where I felt celebrated and not tolerated. I’ll walk into the house and there’s just this sense of truly, ‘welcome home,’ and I tell you what, a guy will break his neck to experience that kind of love, that kind of like, that kind of celebration.”

However, Israel isn’t the only one feelin’ the love. Adrienne has also revealed how their relationship has been different from any other she’s been in.

A Different Kind of Love:

Israel’s latest interview follows a previous discussion the couple had about their relationship. The former 3LW singer recalled the moment she knew Israel was the one for her. She described how distinctly unique familiarity of his love and how it compared to the love of her mother. “You love me the way my mom loves me,” she told Israel during our interview with the couple. “You love me like that. You like me. You like hanging out with me. You think I’m funny. You think I’m witty. I can be so silly in front of you and you love me. You think I’m beautiful. You think I’m dope and I never experienced that. I never experienced affection like that.”

Married life has been relatively good for Israel and Adrienne but now the two are reportedly facing one of the biggest marital hurdles a couple can endure – difficulty conceiving. A couple of weeks ago, Adrienne opened up about the problems they’ve had trying to conceive.

Although there’s been lots of speculation about her being pregnant, she’s confirmed she isn’t and explained why. During a recent discussion on The Real, Adrienne opened up about the personal battle. “I think that as an audience we should be sensitive to the fact that everybody doesn’t get pregnant right away. And I think for myself I thought it would happen so easily for me and it just hasn’t happened that way,” Bailon said. “And I have had to come to peace with that, that it’ll happen when it’s God’s timing and I believe in that and I have faith in all of that. But it can be really discouraging and it can be really frustrating.”

Best of luck to Israel and Adrienne!
