Damn, it’s hard enough trying to get a text back from a potential lover out in these streets!
Can you believe there are actually people with not one, not two, but 24 wives!
A British Colombia Supreme Court judge sentenced Winston Blackmore for having 24 wives; and James Oler for having five wives.
Blackmore and Older were both convicted them of polygamy, Tuesday, but were spared jail time.
The men and are leaders in the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – a breakaway Mormon sect.
The sect believes that a man can have multiple wives.
Some Of The Men Married 15-Year-Olds
Blackmore must serve a six-month conditional sentence to be served under house arrest.
He is only permitted to leave the house for work and medical emergencies. Oler’s term is three months of house arrest. Both face 12 months of probation.
Justice Sheri Ann Donegan said despite the men being respected in their community, they did not show any understanding of their crime.
Blackmore has 149 children and some of the men in their sect are married to girls as young as 15.
They Showed No Remorse
‘He’s made it clear that no sentence will deter him from practicing his faith,’ the judge said of Blackmore, 61.
Blackmore was also ordered to perform 150 hours of community service work, while Oler must do 75 hours.
The men’s vast family were in court, with some breaking down in tears when they were sentenced.
