At one point, Flint and Carter III were an item but Flint decided that she no longer wanted to be with him. Apparently, during their relationship, Carter III was allegedly abusive towards Flint as text messages revealed. Flint was trying to move with her life with her boyfriend, Demontae Rhodes. Prior to dating Carter III, Flint was in a relationship with Rhodes but they broke up. During that separation, Flint met Carter III. According to Rockford, Illinois news, Carter III was jealous of Flint’s relationship with Rhodes.

Officers arrived and found the 4 bodies on December 20th. Interviews from Flint’s family members and friends revealed that before her murder, Carter III was constantly texting her. Family members shared that Rhodes and Flint, his childhood friend, dated for years, then split up and dated others. They got back together in part because Rhodes wanted to protect Flint and the children he had helped to raise. Flint was a dental assistant and Rhodes was an amateur boxer as well as a family businessman. Investigators believed that Carter III murdered Rhodes and Flint’s two sons because they were witnesses.

After three hours of deliberation, Carter, 24, was found guilty of 133 counts of first-degree murder and home invasion in the execution-style deaths of four people.

On July 17th,  a jury found Calvin Carter III guilty of all four murders in a quadruple murder trial. Carter III was also found guilty of home invasion. Carter III is scheduled to be sentenced on September 8th 2017. After the verdict was read Carter III rose from his seat smiling and was led out of the courtroom by guards and his attorney. If convicted, Carter III faces 45 years up to life in prison.
