Ukeitha Willaby found herself in a critical circumstance of emotion. Unfortunately, it has cost her freedom and nearly her friends’ lives.
— Milwaukee County, Wisconsin
At least, she thought they were her friends. However, it turns out her fiancé and bestie were much closer than she could’ve imagined.
3 a.m. in Wisconsin
According to Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, after arriving home in the early morning hours, 41-year-old Ukeitha Willaby found her husband-to-be and best friend in bed together.
Yet, it was probably anticipated. The source also noted that she had negotiated — out of suspicion — a spare key to her husband-to-be’s place.
While this is a different kind of betrayal that no one should ever experience, seeing the truth immediately sent the woman into a rage.
The source says she first attacked her fiancé, 34-year-old Arthur Peavy, by smashing a pickle jar across his face. Then, she took a knife to him over and over.
Somehow, he managed to escape into a nearby bathroom.
“He suffered numerous stabs and cuts, and a deep stab wound to his abdomen,” notes the Sentinel.
Peavy remained locked inside the bathroom until police arrived on the scene.
“She Wasn’t Readyyyy…”
There was still the other woman — her bestie, 28-year-old Akiyyah Jones.
The source notes that Jones woke to the attack. So, she might have gotten stabbed along with the fiancé before they split to the bathrooms.
Jones had escaped to the second bathroom. However, she didn’t stay there, because Willaby chased her in there.
She was attacked more. Sometime during the confrontation, she managed to leave the bathroom and dart out the front door — but definitely not without receiving multiple injuries.
The source says that, when police authorities arrived on-scene, there was a bloody trail leading out the front door. It was obviously her ex-best friend’s blood, since she was the only one to make it out.
However, moments later, they also noticed her naked ex-fiancé stumble out the side door and collapse.
The responding officer marked in his report that it was a scene out of a horror movie.
“Two 8-inch butcher knives sat out amid a scene bathed in blood,” the source notes.
Both, the fiancé and best friend, were hospitalized with “multiple stab wounds and cuts to various parts of their bodies.”
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports Willaby’s sentence as follows.
“Willaby, who was initially charged with two counts of attempted first-degree intentional homicide, pleaded guilty to first-degree recklessly endangering safety with a dangerous weapon, as part of a domestic violence incident.”
Assistant District Attorney Owen Piotrowski was seeking 15 years as her punishment.
However, since her arrest in July 2015 to her October 4, 2016 sentencing, she’s already served nearly 500 days in prison.
According to her attorney, Scott Anderson, Willaby should’ve received, as “time served,” the days she has already spent in jail — plus an additional five years of extended supervision.
Circuit Judge Janet Protasiewicz seemed understanding of the situation. However, she also expressed that the severity of her attack warranted serious punishment.
So, since she’s already served a year-plus, she sentenced her to 14 years in prison — plus an additional eight years of supervision.
