On Sunday, Laquita Lewis was involved in a car accident. While she reportedly had minor injuries, Lewis had to be transported to the hospital via ambulance. Upon arriving to the hospital, Lewis decided to text her family members. She didn’t text them to inform them of the accident. However, she texted her family to let them know that she had done “something bad”.
According to the Daily Mail, Lewis sent text messages to relatives suggesting that she had hurt her daughter, 4 year-old Fredricka Allen. Not only did Lewis text her family members but she also texted her daughter’s father to inform him of the news. The Chron reported that Lewis allegedly told her daughter’s father that the little girl was gone and was in Heaven.
She started text messaging him and then talked to him on the phone and told the father that the 4-year-old was dead, prosecutor Lori DeAngelo said in court.
Alarmed by Lewis’ disturbing messages, her family and Fredricka Allen’s father, took action. Those family members called 911 and urged deputies to come check on the girl at Lewis’ apartment. Deputies found that little girl dead inside her home just before 9 p.m., but investigators think she was stabbed to death earlier in the day. Police say Lewis allegedly stabbed the girl multiple times in the chest and left her on the floor of the master bedroom. The scene was so bad that chaplains were out here to console family members of the little girl, as well as the deputies who discovered her body.
Investigators aren’t sure why Lewis, a mother of 4, allegedly killed her daughter, although it’s believed she had a domestic dispute earlier in the day with her boyfriend. Deputies are now trying to find out if the incidents are somehow connected, according to the station. However, it appears that Lewis has a history of threatening violence toward her children, court records show.
According to The Chron, in February, Lewis pleaded guilty to threatening to murder her 16-year-old son. At the time of the stabbing, Lewis was on probation. Investigators have not shared the name of the boyfriend of Lewis as the story is still developing. What we do know is that Lewis filed for divorce from her 16-year-old son’s father, Donnell Lewis, Jr., in 2012. The couple had two other sons together. Lewis has also filed three paternity suits, all of which were dismissed. The first, in 2011, was against Donnell Lewis Jr. The second two, in 2014 and 2015, were against the father of her 4-year-old daughter, Fredrick Allen.
Laquita Lewis, 34, has been charged with capital murder for allegedly stabbing her four-year-old daughter to death. Lewis was arrested on Sunday after police found the body of her daughter Fredricka Allen. She now faces execution if she is convicted. Lewis was due to appear before a judge in Harris County on Monday, however, she was not in court as she was undergoing a mental health evaluation.
The family created a Gofundme account to help the family with burial costs and other expenses.
