Father of four, Omar Murray, 37, was fatally shot in February 2013 outside of his Brownsville home and many people believe that his wife, Alishia Noel-Murray, had a hand in his death.
It Was Like A Dream:
Alishia Noel-Murray remembers the day her husband was killed. Noel-Murray shared that she was actually in bed in pain as she had just had gallbladder surgery. In bed and in pain, Noel-Murray’s concerned husband, Omar Murray, went to the grocery store to get his wife something to eat. That would be the last time that Noel-Murray saw her husband alive.
I remember him asking what I wanted to eat, she recalled to the NY Post, explaining how she was bedridden that Sunday morning following gallbladder surgery. He went out to go buy it, that was the last time I spoke to him.
As she laid in bed waiting for her husband to return, Noel-Murray heard gunshots and her husband calling for his grandma. Afraid, Noel-Murray thought fast as she grabbed her 10-month-old baby and locked herself in the bathroom. Not knowing if her husband was alive or not, Noel-Murray called 911 and her husband’s cell phone. Sadly, he didn’t answer because Murray was dead. When detectives told her Omar was dead, “it was like a dream,” she said, wiping away tears.
Investigators arrested three men, Dameon Lovell, Kirk Portious and Dion Jack, for the murder of Murray. Lovell and Portious were charged with first-degree murder, and Jack was accused of hindering the prosecution. Despite having three suspects in custody, police officers were looking at Noel-Murray to determine if she was involved. According to the NY Daily News, Lovell, 33, cooperated with prosecutors in exchange for 15 years to life in prison for hiring Kirk Portious to kill Noel-Murray’s husband Omar Murray for $3,500. Lovell identified Noel-Murray as the main person who orchestrated the hit to kill her spouse.
Allegedly, Noel-Murray needed her husband to be dead so that she could cash in on her husband’s life insurance policies. Noel-Murray had taken out nearly $900,000 in life insurance on her husband before the murder, and tried to cash out the bulk of the policies within two days of the slaying, prosecutor Emily Dean said. In 2012, Dameon Lovell and Alishia Noel-Murray became the godparents of a mutual friend’s child.
Within months, their casual relationship escalated into something sexual. Lovell claims that his lover grew tired of her husband and her financial woes, so she decided to have him killed. However, things didn’t work out as planned. Because Noel-Murray is facing jail time, her husband’s life insurance company is refusing to pay out. The NYPD was investigating Noel’s involvement with her husband’s murder, according to MetLife, a judge will decide what should happen to the cash.
Alicia Noel-Murray, 28, faces life in prison for the murder of her husband Omar Murray, 37, in a Brooklyn trial that began on Monday, May 15th. Alleged hitman Kirk Portious is also on trial, with a separate jury. While Noel-Murray admitted to being upset with her husband after catching him allegedly lying and cheating with prostitutes, she didn’t kill him. She had also allegedly found out that he had fathered a child with someone else which upset her but not enough to have him murdered. Noel-Murray’s grieving process was short lived. She started dating another man less than a year after her husband, Omar Murray, had been killed. Finding love again, Noel-Murray married again in September of 2014, the following year after her husband’s death. I wonder if she got an insurance policy on him too?
